Description: The DH51 is regarded as the true ancestor of the highly successful Moth series of aeroplanes. In 1923 the Air Ministry was encouraging aircraft designers to produce ultra light aeroplanes for the civil market, but de Havilland decided to make a much larger, more practical touring aeroplane - as well as their DH53 (qv). 'Miss Kenya' was the last of three DH51's and flew, in Africa, on 4 April 1926. On 10 September 1928 it became the first aircraft to be registered in Kenya, hence the name. It was
