Watching Jodie Foster’s performance in this scene was the only time I recall feeling truly star struck while performing myself (as the judge). In addition to playing the title role, she was also the producer. Immediately before she began this scene, I’d heard her talking on her cellphone, while sitting in the courtroom, asking someone for a list of the proposed composers for the movie’s score. Just as she hung up, the director (Michael Apted) said “Action.” And she did this!
