Andthey don't take any chances that their meal will escape.Dippers bash fish against rocks and thrash smaller food about before eating. This video was taken in the Kokanee Creek spawning channel in February after the dipper had caught a couple of invertebrates that were living in the gravel.All in a day's foraging for an American Dipper at Kokanee Creek!")

We had our lines down about 15-25 feet or so and then a fish hit. It became obvious when the fish took runs straight down beyond 120 feet in depth that this was a mackinaw (lake trout)... The fish was 28")
