Description: Shot more than a century ago, this 1917 newsreel footage might possibly be the earliest known moving images of Appalachia. The unique 28mm film stock was discovered by TAMIS on Ebay, and preserved through a grant from the National Film Preservation Foundation. The footage was possibly shot by Walter Cline of Chattanooga, Tennessee, then employed as a stringer for Paramount-Bray.
