Description: This work is a typographic response to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914. The scroll situates the assassination within a series catalysts that occurred in quick succession, leading to total war within a couple of months. Each line is a headline from The Telegraph newspaper on that day in 1914. Gradually the headlines become larger and condensed, creating a stagnant blackness that serves to reflect the external crisis and ensuing stalemate that so characterised WW1.
