A man who had to learn to walk again after being in a coma for three and a half weeks is training to run the London Marathon.<br/><br/>Connor Blundell, 25, was on a year abroad in Valencia, Spain, studying mechanical engineering. Five weeks into his studies, Connor was out with friends when he fell four metres from a platform and landed on his head.<br/><br/>Connor was unconscious and rushed to hospital where he spent three and a half weeks in a coma. When Connor became conscious he was non-verbal and unable to walk and spent nine months in rehabilitation. Connor was not able to leave Spain until May 2021 and continued his rehabilitation in the UK.<br/><br/>Less than four years on, Connor is walking and talking again and taking part in the London Marathon this weekend alongside his dad, Chris, 57.

_young-girl-dies-and-two-women-injured-after-being-hit-by-car-in-birmingham.webp "A young girl has died and two women injured after a car ploughed into them on a residential street in Birmingham. <br/><br/>Emergency services rushed to Upper Highgate Street, in the Highgate area of the city, after four pedestrians were mown down at 9.45pm yesterday (Sun).<br/><br/>Paramedics battled to save the child but she was confirmed dead at the scene while two women were taken to hospital with serious injuries.<br/><br/>A second child was also assessed by ambulance crews but did not require any further treatment. <br/><br/>West Midlands Ambulance Service said three ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and two critical care paramedics were sent to the scene.<br/><br/>A service spokeswoman said: “On arrival, crews found a car and four pedestrians had been involved in a collision.<br/><br/>“A child, female, was in a critical condition and ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support.<br/><br/>“Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, she could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.<br/><br/>“Two women were treated by medics for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries and were conveyed on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment.<br/><br/>“A fourth patient, a child, was assessed by ambulance crews but was not injured and so was discharged at the scene.”")
