Lawyer Adila Hassim addressed the court, emphasising that South Africa had been compelled to return to the court due to Israel's defiance of earlier provisional measures. She noted that since Israel initiated its incursion of Rafah, 600,000 Palestinians had been forced to flee, without any safe havens. Palestinians in Gaza, she stated, were still being subjected to an ongoing and intensifying genocide, with their future hanging in the balance.
