Description: The Unangax people of the Aleutian Islands developed an Iqyax (kayak) characterized with a unique bifurcated bow. The people suffered terribly during a period of exploitation by Russian fur traders and much of their oral history and culture has been lost, including the meaning and purpose of the bifurcated bow.
