Scientists Use 'Dyson Sphere' , Signature to Search for , Potential Alien Life.
Decades ago, physicist Freeman Dyson theorized that a
shell made of solar panels that surrounds a star would be
the ultimate energy solution for an advanced civilization. .
One should expect that, within a few
thousand years of its entering the stage
of industrial development, any intelligent
species should be found occupying an
artificial biosphere which completely
surrounds its parent star, Freeman Dyson, 1960 paper, via CNN.
CNN reports that the concept took
hold and the hypothetical megastructures
have come to be called Dyson spheres. .
At the time, Dyson suggested that
these spheres would emit waste heat
as detectable infrared radiation.
The British American physicist suggested
that this unique radiation signature could
be a way of finding extraterrestrial life. .
It would be much more
rewarding to search directly
for intelligence, but technology
is the only thing we have
any chance of seeing, Matías Suazo, Lead study author and a doctoral student
in the department of physics and astronomy
of Uppsala University in Sweden, via CNN.
A new study searched five million stars in the Milky Way
galaxy to find seven candidates that could potentially
be home to an advanced civilization's Dyson sphere.
It’s difficult for us to find
an explanation for these sources,
because we don’t have enough
data to prove what is the real
cause of the infrared glow, Matías Suazo, Lead study author and a doctoral student in
the department of physics and astronomy of
Uppsala University in Sweden, via CNN.
It’s difficult for us to find
an explanation for these sources,
because we don’t have enough
data to prove what is the real
cause of the infrared glow, Matías Suazo, Lead study author and a doctoral student in
the department of physics and astronomy of
Uppsala University in Sweden, via CNN.
They could be Dyson spheres,
because they behave like our
models predict, but they could
be something else as well, Matías Suazo, Lead study author and a doctoral student
in the department of physics and astronomy
of Uppsala University in Sweden, via CNN.
The team's findings were published
in the journal 'Monthly Notices of
the Royal Astronomical Society.'

Millennials and Gen Z spend more on 'self-care' than any other generation – splashing out £24 a week on treats and pampering to boost their mental health.

A poll of 2,000 adults found young generations will go out of their way to treat themselves to small goods like flowers and pamper products, such as facemasks, as often as 11 times a month – more than twice a week.

However, the older you get, the less likely you are to spend your cash on self-care.

Boomers only fork out around £10 a week, while the silent generation – those born between 1928 and 1945 – spend just over £8.

It also emerged the main benefits of enjoying a self-care treat include feeling happier (66 per cent), putting a smile on their face (53 per cent) and being kinder to others (23 per cent).

Gabrielle Dullaart, of Funny How Flowers Do That [www.funnyhowflowersdothat.co.uk], which commissioned the research, said: \

AFTER years of neglect, a 1957 feather white BMW 507 that previously belonged to Elvis Presley has been fully restored - and is now the most 'valuable' of its kind in the world. Elvis owned the car when he posted in Germany as a US Army Sergeant, but later sold it when he returned to the US. Nobody knew what had happened to the famous car up until 2014, when automotive journalist Jackie Jouret discovered that it had been sitting in a pumpkin warehouse on the outskirts of San Francisco for over 30 years. Its new owner, named Jack Castor, had no idea about who the car had previously belonged to. Jackie said: “I got the feeling that he wasn’t a fan of Elvis in the slightest. We take the tarp off, and the car is in-tact but rough shape. An ordinary 507 is really a $1.2-1.5 million car, but with the Elvis association it suddenly becomes the most valuable 507 in the world.” After finding out about the car’s history, Castor sent the BMW to be restored, but he sadly passed away before it was completed. The car now features at the BMW Museum in Munich, mere miles away from where it was first manufactured.
