Description: This animation sequence, of an early design prior to modification of its shape and the addition of fins, was produced as part of an engineering design project that involved Finite Elements Australia engineering director Phil Durbin, over a 6 year period, as engineering advisor and simulation-led engineering designer of the Deepsea Challenger submarine. The DeepSea Challenger is a purpose designed, solo manned, submarine built for one purpose - to convey National Geographic Explorer in residence
