Description: John Curtis won the Republican primary in Utah to challenge for the Senate seat being vacated by Mitt Romney. He received 52% of the vote. His closest challenger was Trent Staggs, who received over 28% of the vote. Staggs had campaigned as a strong supporter of Donald Trump and received Trump's endorsement. John Curtis is a current Congressman who has represented Utah since 2017. He is seen as more moderate than other Republicans and does not strongly align with Trump. Curtis will now face the Democratic nominee, Caroline Gleich, in the November general election. However, Utah has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1970.
