Punhun, hearing of Sassui’s beauty, traveled to Bhambore and, through a clever ruse involving his clothes needing washing, managed to meet Sassui. The two fell deeply in love and were soon married1.<br/><br/>The Separation: However, their happiness was short-lived. Punhun’s brothers, disapproving of the marriage, intoxicated Punhun and took him back to Balochistan while Sassui was asleep1. Upon waking, Sassui found herself alone and set out on a perilous journey across the desert to find her husband.<br/><br/>The Tragic End: The story culminates in a heart-wrenching tragedy. As Sassui, exhausted and overcome by the harshness of the desert, collapses and prays for death, the land is said to have split open and swallowed her1.
