Description: Austen experienced this work in New Orleans as part of Prospect 4. The rationale for including this work in the exhibition relates to Struggle panel #19, the impressment of Americans and James Madison's 1812 War Message to Congress. The scene in the panel features the capture of the USS Chesapeake, a vessel which at one time was commanded by the great navel officer Stephen Decatur.
