Punhun, hearing of Sassui’s beauty, traveled to Bhambore and, through a clever ruse involving his clothes needing washing, managed to meet Sassui. Punhun’s brothers, disapproving of the marriage, intoxicated Punhun and took him back to Balochistan while Sassui was asleep1. As Sassui, exhausted and overcome by the harshness of the desert, collapses and prays for death, the land is said to have split open and swallowed her1.
