Description: China’s National Space Administration launched Tianwen-1 on July 23, 2020 with an orbiter, lander, and rover. Its name comes from a famous, ancient poem. The lander arrived May 2021 in Utopia Planitia. The mission sought to map the surface and water ice, analyze soil and the ionosphere, and find evidence for current and past life.Tianwen-1 may save Martian rock and soil samples.A proposed Chinese Mars sample-return mission would retrieve these in the 2030s.nnScript: L.
