Description: The title of this track and first line: 'Though death may use my bones as trophies, black and sown with tears' are taken from a casket letter purportedly written by Mary Queen of Scots. References to violets and pallor are influenced by Mary's ode to her young French husband, King Francis II on his death; 'In the pallor of my face, pale as when violets fade, true love's becoming shade.' The air, full of bird song, is recorded at Inchmahome Priory where Mary spent several months as a young girl.n
