The experienced rider Tony Carey, 47-year-old, crashed after less than a mile in his first practice run at the Classic Race included in the programme of the 1999 Carrowdore 100 road race. It happened on Saturday, 04 September 1999, Carey was riding a customised Norton RCW588, powered by a twin-rotor Wankel engine.<br/><br/>Tony Carey suffered severe head injuries in the accident and was transported to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, and in the following days local newspapers indicated he was listed in a critical condition. The Irishman remained in the intensive care unit until the following week, when life support machines were turned off, on Tuesday, 07 September 1999.<br/><br/>An accomplished rider, Tony Carey had raced on the European continent for a long time, when he established a base in Amsterdam, Netherlands.<br/><br/>Born in Bawnfume, Butlerstown, Co. Waterford, Tony Carey was said to be a Waterford, Ireland, resident. He was survived by a child daughter, Aoife, who had traveled with him to the race.<br/><br/>Reportedly, Carey's was the fourth death involving a motorcycle racer in 1999, in the Ireland's worst Summer of tragedy in racing memory. Donny Robinson was killed on 14 May, while practicing for the North West 200 at Coleraine; Philip Conroy died on 31 July at Saintfield and on 21 August Owen McNally lost his life during the Ulster Grand Prix at Dundrod.<br/><br/>R.I.P

Players are together in a car in the middle of a firefight against the Inertia Corporation, and must come up with a plan for how to successfully eliminate threats without destroying themselves. Using a simple core mechanic, players exchange cards determining actions, and when time is up, they unleash their plan on the hostile vehicles all around. Hopefully nothing went wrong!<br/><br/>The crew car tile is placed on the table, and players choose a driver. Rotate the car so the driver is correctly seated at the front-left of the car. Each player receives a player aid according to their position in the car. Their seat at the table is their position in the car!<br/><br/>Deal out the 12 basic action cards: 4 equipment (steering wheel, shotgun, pistol, uzi), 4 directional arrows, and 4 turn order cards. Each player holds just three cards: 1 turn order, 1 direction, and 1 equipment.<br/>Rounds<br/><br/>The game is played over a series of rounds, the number of which is determined by the current game scenario.<br/><br/>Phase 1 - Lookout - Fill the 8 grid spaces around the crew car with vehicles, mostly sent from the Inertia Corporation.<br/><br/>Draw settings and moments that impact the rules for the round.<br/><br/>Phase 2 - Planning - For two minutes, exchange action cards, heeding any moments or settings. Players may exchange any and all cards amongst each other, the only constraint is that the steering wheel has to stay in the front seat. Try to come up with the best plan. Once time runs out, action cards are locked.<br/><br/>Phase 3 - Action! - In order, each crew member acts on the scene around the crew car, according to the cards they hold. Vehicles are wrecked when receiving damage equal to their health. They then explode in any number of directions, as determined by their collateral damage arrows.<br/><br/>Earn points by creating wreckage pileups and openings around the car’s final position.<br/><br/>Phase 4 - Aftermath - At the end of each round, all vehicles collapse inward on the crew car's position. Next round more get added to empty spaces around the crew car, and the cycle begins anew.<br/>Victory")

_john-ennis-fatal-crash-mid-antrim-1997-aftermath.webp "Northern Irish rider John Ennis, 24, from Andersons Hill, Newtownards, in County Down, Northern Ireland, suffered a fatal accident during the Classic 250 race of the Mid-Antrim 150 meeting. It happened at approximately 16h45 on Saturday, 02 August 1997.<br/><br/>On the final lap of the race, John Ennis lost control of his motorcycle at the Alexander's Leap, along the Cloughwater Road in Broughshane within the Borough of Ballymena, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The bike crashed into a wall and John Ennis was killed almost instantly. Another competitor, John Campell was involved in the accident, suffering a broken leg.<br/><br/>The meeting was abandoned, following the tragic accident. John Ennis was the winner of the previous edition of the Classic 250 race at Mid-Antrim, in 1996.<br/><br/>The Mid-Antrim Motor Club staged the first Mid-Antrim 100 (later 150) in 1946 on the Ballygarvey Circuit, outside Ballymena Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland. The race was run over a 6-mile (9.654-kilometer) public roads course. In 1947 the circuit was changed to a 10.4 mile (16.734-kilometer) public roads course with the races being run in a clockwise direction until 1954, and from 1955 in the reverse direction. This circuit was used until 1963. Later the Mid-Antrim 150 Road Race necessitated the move to a different track, the 5.7 mile (9.17-kilometer) Rathkenny Circuit. The first race on the present 3.6-mile (5.793-kilometer) circuit in Clough Village, was held in 1989.<br/><br/>R.I.P")
