On April 27, 1961, NASA launched Explorer 11, a satellite that contained the first gamma ray telescope to go to space. <br/><br/>This marked the birth of space-based gamma ray astronomy. Gamma rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation and have the highest energy of any kind of wave in the electromagnetic spectrum. These waves come from things like supernova explosions, supermassive black holes, and even solar flares. Before Explorer 11 launched to look for gamma rays in space, scientists were pretty sure that gamma rays were out there. However, they had to way of detecting these gamma rays, because they get absorbed in Earth's atmosphere. Explorer 11 detected 22 cosmic gamma rays during its seven-month mission. These rays were coming from all over the place and didn't seem to point to any particular sources out in space. This observation became the first evidence of a uniform gamma-ray background in the universe.

_police-in-riot-gear-clash-with-fans-outside-the-tottenham-hotspur-stadium-during-arsenal39s-3-2-win.webp "Footage has emerged from the north London Derby showing police officers clashing with fans outside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. <br/><br/>Arsenal came away from the clash against their bitter rivals with all three points after surviving an impressive second-half comeback from the hosts, the Gunners eventually winning 3-2.<br/><br/>Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz struck for the visitors after a Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg own goal, and although Cristian Romero and Son Heung-min netted in a frantic second half, Mikel Arteta's side held firm. <br/><br/>The Gunners ended the weekend top of the Premier League as a result, while they also secured back-to-back wins at Tottenham in the league for the first time in 36 years. <br/><br/>However, ugly scenes have since emerged from the match with cameras catching the moment fans appeared to clash with police outside the ground. <br/><br/>The video shows a large group of police officers fighting with fans, with some supporters visibly being dragged along the ground by several bodies. <br/><br/>Another appears to be shoved to the ground before being struck repeatedly by officers, who were wearing riot helmets and high-vis jackets. <br/><br/>When another intervenes, seemingly to aid the other supporter, they look to be dragged away.<br/><br/>Throughout the conflict outside the ground, projectiles and drinks can be seen thrown at the police officers by onlookers.<br/><br/>Another clip was posted on TikTok that showed several home supporters inside the ground looking out onto a conflict between police officers and a large group of fans. <br/><br/>It is unclear whether the two clips are of the same incident at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. <br/><br/>There had been reports of away supporters finding a way into the home end for the clash between the bitter local rivals. <br/><br/>One Arsenal supporter was seen full-time in the home area revealing their Arsenal shirt as the players came over to celebrate their huge victory.<br/><br/>In an interview after the game, he explained he'd not realized he had bought a ticket for the wrong part of the stadium, having jetted from Australia to watch his beloved side play.<br/><br/>There is plenty of tension between the two local rivalries, who have long been historic foes, with abuse regularly hurled at players on the pitch from both parties. <br/><br/>Last season's clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium saw a fan kick Aaron Ramsdale in the back before beating a hasty retreat. <br/><br/>At full-time in the 2-0 win, Ramsdale made his way back towards Spurs fans to collect his water bottle before a fan clambered down from the stands and appeared to kick the goalkeeper. <br/><br/>The fan, later identified as Joseph Watts of Hackney, was charged by police and pleaded guilty to assaulting the Arsenal goalkeeper.")
