Description: Carla A. Moultrie is a mother, motivational speaker and author whose book “Ausome Girl,” is inspired by her daughter Camille, who has Autism Spectrum Disorder and Sensory Processing Disorder. This culturally-relevant children's story illustrates how autism affects Camille, and how her family, teachers, and friends support her. As April is Autism Awareness Month, Carla shares helpful resources for parents and how she and her husband emotionally navigated Camille’s diagnosis. She also shares how her network of fellow alumna from HBCU Florida A&M University and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. have been supportive in her journey as an autism awareness advocate.
