The total value of companies listed on the London Stock Exchange exceeded $3 trillion in total value of companies on Monday, overtaking the total value of companies listed in Paris. The LSE had been Europe’s largest stock market for many years before November 2022 when it was overtaken due to challenges like uncertainty from Liz Truss's mini-Budget and Brexit. Analysts say the French market has recently slumped due to uncertainty around its upcoming presidential election, while the UK market is recovering. US stock exchanges have grown faster than London's due to more tech company listings, but the UK offers better value relative to earnings.
