A slow start to Game 3 in the first round of the Western Conference playoff series turned into a chippy battle. The Dallas Mavericks came away with their second win of the series over the Los Angeles Clippers 101-85. <br/><br/>The Mavericks had five players finish the night in double figures with leading scorer Luka Dončić’ ending the night with 22 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and two steals. <br/><br/>Despite the Clippers holding a slim advantage in the second half, thanks to leading scorer James Harden, the Mavericks managed to overcome Los Angeles. Luka Dončić played a pivotal role, in the second quarter, where he found his rhythm from beyond the arc.<br/><br/>Dončić’s three-point shooting spree gave the Mavericks a slim two-point lead, 34-32, with 7:36 remaining in the second quarter. Dallas then extended their lead to 41-34 with over five minutes left in the quarter, with notable contributions from P.J. Washington and second-leading scorer Dereck Lively II.<br/><br/>The chemistry between Lively and Kyrie Irving was evident on the court, as Irving set up a lob for Lively, who completed the dunk.<br/><br/>Head coach Jason Kidd said the lob was huge for his team tonight, especially with their emphasis on getting in the paint. <br/><br/>“In the first half we had ten and in the first three games you would think that is the total we have,” said Kidd. “I told Ky [Kyrie Irving] he had a career-high of lobs and he was really in tune with D-Live [Dereck Lively II]. Just being able to get to the paint and the late pass, the lob was big for us.”<br/><br/>Not only did the Mavericks receive assistance on the offensive end, but their defense also shined, tallying seven blocks and eleven steals for the night. The Clippers attempted to alter their defensive strategies to challenge Dallas, but the Mavericks remained steadfast, heading into the locker room with a 54-41 lead.<br/><br/>The second half began with Kyrie Irving draining a deep three-pointer, setting the tone for the remainder of the game. Irving played a crucial role during a two-minute scoring drought late in the third quarter, sinking a pivotal three-pointer that extended Dallas’s lead to 73-62 with 1:16 remaining in the third quarter.<br/><br/>As the game reached its conclusion, tensions rose, resulting in a skirmish involving Washington, Terance Mann, and later Russell Westbrook. _nearly-half-of-uk-pets-have-their-own-room-to-relax-in.webp "Nearly half of the UK’s pets now have their own dedicated room where they can relax in peace and store their belongings, research has revealed.<br/><br/>A poll, of 2,000 cat and dog owners, found 48 per cent have a reserved room for their pets or a space in the garden. <br/><br/>Just over half (55 per cent) want them to have their own 'chill out' area, while 34 per cent want to ensure maximum comfort. <br/><br/>And 30 per cent want all their possessions kept in one place.<br/><br/>But for 18 per cent, its sole purpose is so their stuff doesn’t take up space in the rest of the home. <br/><br/>It also emerged 46 per cent of pet owners have designed their home around their pet, although 21 per cent admitted they are unlikely to buy items to appease their furry friend that don’t match their interior style. <br/><br/>The study was commissioned by Homesense - part of the TK Maxx family - which has partnered with Kelly Brook, to launch a pet and interiors content series ‘Barkitectural Digest’. <br/><br/>In the style of a high-end home interior magazine, Kelly and her beloved pup, Teddy, grace the pages in a luxury home decked out with more affordable homeware and pet products to spread inspiration for other pet owners. <br/><br/>Kelly Brook said: “I adore Teddy. We knew that the Cowboys had two areas of importance on both the offensive line and the defensive line. The offensive line issue was answered on day one with the selection of OT Tyler Guyton. He will replace Tyron Smith, the Cowboys lost Smith in free agency to the Jets. Dallas lost Dorance Armstrong in free agency as well to Washington so the Kneeland pick makes sense, he will help with the loss of Armstrong. <br/><br/>Kneeland came out of Western Michigan University in his 2023 season he played in nine games and had a career-high 57 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 7.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and eight quarterback hurries. Kneeland was named second-team All-MAC. <br/><br/>Also, Dallas needs help with the run and they have lacked in that department for a couple years…Marshawn Kneeland had a 99 percentile run stop % since 2022. <br/><br/>The Cowboys selected G Cooper Beebe out of Kansas State with their 73rd overall pick in the third round on day two of the draft. Dallas continues to prioritize their offensive line by grabbing another guard early. <br/><br/>Beebe was a First-Team All-American in 2023. He played in 51 games for Kansas State and started in 48 of them. His 48 starts ranked 5th highest amongst all wildcats since 1990. He was named 2022 and 2023 Big12 Offensive Lineman of the year, one of five players to earn the honor since the award started in 2006. In his career Beebe only gave up five sacks amongst 1,488 career pass blocking snaps. <br/><br/>The Cowboys selected LB Martist Liufau out of Notre Dame with their 87th overall pick in the third round of the NFL Draft. This was another area where the Cowboys needed some work, with the loss of Leighton Vander Esch to injuries it left an opening for opportunity. <br/><br/>Liufau finished his 2023 season as a second year starter for Notre Dame. He finished 2023 as one of the team’s top tacklers. Liufau had 44 stops while displaying his ability to drop into coverage (two pass break-ups), rush the passer (three sacks), and made tremendous plays behind the line of scrimmage. <br/><br/>Rounds four, five, six, and seven will continue on Saturday and the draft will conclude on Saturday night.
