Description: A video essay examining 'the male gaze' theory in Futurama. nnI enjoyed the show when I was a teenager, but after returning to it recently, I was surprised by the depiction of 'the women of the future'. Whereas male nudity is used for humour in the show (whether it is Zoidberg's grotesque under-shell, Farnsworth's prune-like body or the overweight physique of Hermes and Fry) I found that female nudity is almost always sexualised and rarely, if ever, used for humour.nnAs there is a clip here from
