Description: A WalletHub survey found that nearly 75% of people think the tipping culture in the US has gotten out of control. Over half of respondents believe businesses are replacing employee salaries with customer tips. Seventy-eight percent of those surveyed said automatic service charges should be banned. Previous USA Today research found over 60% feel too many places ask for tips and nearly 50% are tired of being asked. Human Rights Watch reports that tipped workers in states that have abolished the subminimum wage experience higher income, reduced job harassment, and a lower incidence of poverty.
