Description: Every year on the day of Makar Sankranti (14 January), hundreds of thousands of Hindus gather to take a holy bath at the confluence of river Hoogly(Ganges) and the Bay of Bengal to offer puja in the Kapil Muni Ashram(Temple). A Gangasagar fair and pilgrimage is held every year at Ganga sagar or Gangasagar. Near the confluence is the Kapil Muni Temple.
