She stayed in London for four years and studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art while she acted in musicals such as South Pacific and Bells Are Ringing. She then returned to Broadway to replace Joan Diener in Kismet. She continued to star on Broadway in the musicals The Pajama Game (1954), Jimmy (1969), Park (1970), and Legs Diamond (1988), for which she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical.
