Kia believes the future of the automotive industry will include more than crossovers, and it surprised everyone with a first look at the five-door K4 hatchback that will soon join the sedan in the US lineup.<br/><br/>The automaker gave us our first look at the car during its K4 sedan presentation at the New York International Auto Show today. Although we already knew that the compact sedan would be introduced, the company has so far remained silent on plans for a hatchback version that will replace the Forte.<br/><br/>Few more details were offered, but Kia confirmed that the vehicle will be sold in the US and arrive later than the sedan. From the first images, it appears that little needs to change other than the roofline and rear end to transform the sedan into a hatchback.<br/><br/>Although it is not yet clear whether all powertrains will be shared between models, the K4 sedan will be offered with two engine options. The entry-level 2.0-liter engine produces 147 hp (110 kW / 149 PS) and 132 lb-ft (179 Nm) of torque, while the 1.6-liter turbocharged option produces 190 hp (142 kW / 193 PS) and 195 lb-ft (195 Nm). lb-ft).<br/><br/>There may be nothing to say about the engines, but Kia prioritizes comfort and safety for the car. The new steering wheel provides better control, and for rear-seat passengers, Hyundai added a center armrest with two cupholders.<br/><br/>2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz is Sportier on the Outside, Cowier on the Inside<br/>The truck comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and supports over-the-air updates. It's also equipped with Digital Key 2, a fingerprint scanner, Hyundai's in-car payment system, and Bluelink+ connected car technology.<br/><br/>While the interior and exterior were renewed, there was no change under the hood. Santa Cruz still comes with two engine options; 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 191 hp (142 kW / 194 PS) and 181 lb-ft (245 Nm) of torque, and a 2.5-liter turbo producing 281 hp. (210 kW / 285 PS) and 311 lb-ft (422 Nm) of torque. Both are connected to a lightly tuned eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The multi-disc hydraulic torque converter increases responsiveness and the downsized oil pump minimizes friction losses.<br/><br/>The naturally aspirated engine can tow up to 3,500 lbs (1,588 kg), while the 2.5-liter turbo can tow 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg) and comes standard with all-wheel drive.<br/><br/>For 2025, the Santa Cruz will be offered in new colors called Rockwood Green and Canyon Red. Medium Gray seating surfaces will also be available.
