_julie-james-visits-restored-market-hall-at-llandeilo.webp "A key part of Llandeilo’s history has been revitalised, thanks to £1.7 of Transforming Towns funding.<br/>Cabinet Secretary for Housing, Local Government and Planning Julie James visited the Grade II listed building, Yr Hen Farchnad (The Old Market) to see the results of the renovation.<br/>The market was a key part of Llandeilo’s history before becoming disused and falling into a state of disrepair.<br/>It was then placed on the ‘buildings at risk register’ having been classified as vulnerable in 2007.<br/>Now, there is no longer a trace of that ‘vulnerable’ building as the iconic market space has been completely renovated and revitalised, by Carmarthenshire County Council, bringing employment opportunities and event space to the heart of the town.<br/>The renovation scheme was supported by £1.7 million of Welsh Government Transforming Towns funding which included European Regional Development funding.<br/>The Cabinet Secretary said: “It’s fantastic to see that through our Transforming Towns programme we’ve been able to support the renovation of Yr Hen Farchnad.<br/>“This project has not only brought a disused, derelict building back into active use, but has created jobs, training opportunities and is now driving footfall from local people and visitors into the town centre.”<br/>")

_dedicated-saundersfoot-new-years-day-swim-fundraisers-recognised-for-their-efforts.webp "Saundersfoot Sailing Club had the honour of hosting the 2024 Saundersfoot New Year’s Day Swim presentation - recognising those that make it the largest Festive 'dash and splash' event in the UK. <br/>NYDS Chairman, Chris Williams welcomed and thanked everyone for attending, along with the hardworking 'volunteer' committee members, as without their commitment and dedication it wouldn’t be possible to hold such a large scale event. <br/>Also thanked, were the army of volunteers who assist year on year; the marshals that are operating; the water safety team who brave the elements; the emergency services, in particular Tenby Fire Station who have given up their time for over 20 years; the bucket collectors who help raise as much money as possible; the 2,500 swimmers who entered the water (and raised personal sponsorship); and finally, the spectators, who help to make it such an enjoyable spectacle.<br/>Much praise was also given to the many organisations and businesses who assist: The RNLI, Tenby Surf Link, Pembrokeshire Paddlers, St Johns Ambulance, Saundersfoot Sailing Club, Police, The Odley Family (who keep the volunteer army and spectators refreshed), Pembrokeshire County Council and our event partners Saundersfoot Harbour, Hean Castle Estate, Saundersfoot Beach and Saundersfoot Community Council. <br/><br/>Chris said that the organisers were overwhelmed with the response, with just over 2,500 registered to enter online, raising in excess of £11,000!<br/>Sponsors always play an integral part in the NYDS’ success and without their support, there would be no event. It's from the very early days of Brookside and from searching about have discovered it was originally broadcast on December 7th 1982. This is clearly a repeat from a Sky channel, and has a host of Before They Were Famous faces in the cast, including Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnstone, Amanda Burton and Danny Webb. Although I've never seen the soap myself, I thought there might be some fans of this looking out for it. Enjoy - or at the very least, watch with fascination.")
