Part 1 of 3 of this Ruth Rendell mystery from 1995. Alice Whittaker marries Andrew Fielding, a good looking teacher nearly 10 years younger than she is, which causes more than a few eyebrows to raise in the village. Her best friend Nesta Drage is less than convinced, and later Nesta suddenly disappears. As the days pass, Alice becomes more and more concerned with Nesta's disappearance and decides to investigate herself...<br/><br/>Starring Eleanor David, Jane Gurnett, Peter Egan, Mark Frankel, Leslie Phillips, Rebecca Lacey, Melanie Kilburn, Damian Hunt, William Holmes, Arthur White, Joanna Kanska and Leonard Preston among the cast. This was originally broadcast on March 2th 1995, and was part of The Ruth Rendell Mysteries cannon in the mid 1990's. Although many of those mysteries varied greatly in quality, this was one of the best of the offerings. It was also one of the last things Mark Frankel (playing Andrew Fielding) did before his untimely death in a motorbike crash in 1996, aged just 34.

![Furious Harry Kane has claimed that Gabriel's handball fiasco last night was the 'clearest penalty' he'd ever seen, while his Bayern Munich comrades also fumed at a 'stupid' situation.<br/><br/>Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes handled the ball in the second half after David Raya played a short pass to him, with Bayern leading 2-1 at the time. <br/><br/>Referee Glenn Nyberg had blown his whistle but there was a misunderstanding, with Gabriel thinking he was taking the goal kick. <br/><br/>Nyberg was lenient and allowed play to continue - a decision that sparked fury on the pitch, on the sidelines, and in Germany - before Arsenal went on to equalize through Leandro Trossard. <br/><br/>'We should have gotten a clear penalty when the referee blew his whistle,' Kane vented. <br/><br/>'The goalkeeper passed the ball and Gabriel took it into his hands. That’s the clearest penalty I’ve ever seen.' <br/><br/>Bayern had to settle for a 2-2 draw in a thrilling match.
