Description: Eight CRT televisions display an array of women lip-syncing screams from well-known horror movies spanning seven decades of cinema. They move from calm contentment to sheer terror in seconds. Films such as Psycho, The Haunting, Black Sunday, and Halloween shaped the term “scream queen”, the horror movie equivalent of the “damsel-in-distress”. The trope existed long before film though, reaching as far back as Greek mythology. It manifests now as a social pretense that is expected of women
