_girl-enjoys-first-ever-easter-egg-after-hypnosis-cures-her-of-39beige-food39-obsession.webp "A schoolgirl who only ate soft beige foods can finally enjoy chocolate Easter eggs for the first time thanks to hypnosis. <br/><br/>Ten-year-old Betsy Pearson refused to eat anything hard after she developed an extreme fear of choking.<br/><br/>Her breakfast consisted of Shreddies, while lunch and dinners were mainly plain pasta, soft bread or chicken nuggets.<br/><br/>Betsy would gag if she even attempted to eat anything like raw vegetables or fruit.<br/><br/>She would avoid food that she worried she wouldn’t be able to chew through after doctors said she had weak jaw muscles.<br/><br/>Mum Amy, 37, said: “It was basically all beige food she ate because it was not threatening and was colourless.<br/><br/>“She’d eat Shreddies in the morning, for her dinner every day she has plain pasta, it’s always the same for the last seven years. <br/><br/>“Her teachers wanted her to be on school dinners but I told them she wouldn’t eat anything. <br/><br/>“Then they told me to bring a pack lunch in as she wasn’t eating anything there.<br/><br/>“I always thought she had weak jaw muscles, so I took her to an osteopath and they agreed with me. <br/><br/>“She’s always had the fear that she will choke on what’s hard to eat. If I put a steak in front of her we’d have no chance. <br/><br/>“Anything tougher to eat than a few bites was a no no.”<br/><br/>Betsy’s eating habits began to change at around the age of six.<br/><br/>Doctors had dismissed him as a fussy eater, so Amy sought help from Harley Street hypnotherapist David Kilmurry.<br/><br/>He diagnosed avoidant restrictive food intake disorder and within one session had Betsy trying new foods.<br/><br/>As well as fruit and veg, Betsy is now able to enjoy chocolate for the first time – just in time for Easter. <br/><br/>David said: “Betsy has been a dream to work with and I’m really pleased that she can now eat coloured foods which means fruit and veg and of course chocolate Easter eggs.<br/><br/>“Betsy has checked in for regular try tests where she completes lots of tastes of new foods and has started taking sandwiches to school, travelled abroad and ate in restaurants without reluctance or stress.”<br/><br/>Mum-of-two Amy, from Huddersfield, West Yorks., said she is delighted with Betsy’s progress.<br/><br/>She said: “She used to eat anything when she was a baby. I don’t even know where it came from, it just started. <br/><br/>“We literally had three meals that we just rotated constantly. She used to like fish fingers but she doesn’t like those anymore.<br/><br/>“We’d known for a while she had something but we thought she was a fussy eater. <br/><br/>“It wasn’t until Covid lockdown when she was six or seven that there was an issue. <br/><br/>“I tried making her something and you could see the anxiety building up. _why-is-sand-being-moved-around-on-tenby-harbour-and-north-beach.webp "Over the first week of the Easter holidays, and heading into Good Friday and the busy Bank Holiday, many visitors to Tenby have been wandering what all the work taking place on the sands of the seaside town’s North Beach and harbour is for?<br/>Tenby Harbour and North Beach users have been asked to be aware of heavy moving machinery since Tuesday (March 26) to Friday, March 29 as dredging work is carried out.<br/>Sand is being removed from the mouth of the Harbour and deposited at the north end of the beach. The work will not affect vessel movements at the Harbour.<br/>Dredging has taken place annually around the harbour area over the past few years, after concerns were expressed by local councillors and harbour users that high levels of sandbanks that were forming, were causing disruption to boats entering and exiting the area.<br/>Pembrokeshire County Council has come in for heavy criticism of late for not tackling the problem, with some harbour users voicing their concerns that it is becoming ‘unworkable’.<br/>The annual operation to crane the boats back into the harbour waters is scheduled to take place after the Easter holidays on Wednesday, April 10.<br/>Renewed calls have been made to the Local Authority regarding operational difficulties at the harbour, with fears expressed that the area will become unusable if sandbanks continue to develop at an alarming rate. <br/>Councillors and members of Tenby Harbour Users Association have previously flagged-up concerns to Pembrokeshire County Council about the high level of sand sweeping towards Goscar Rock across the North Beach, leaving high sandbanks around a large section of the harbour seabed, making it difficult for boats to get in and out of the area.<br/>County councillor for Tenby’s North ward Cllr Michael Williams last year underlined the ongoing concerns: “Such are the limitations now in Tenby harbour, it might be time to review the level of harbour dues in particular as they relate to commercial users, as they find it more and more difficult to use the harbour, but the limitations of access to moorings affects all users,” he told the Observer.<br/>“There should be a critical examination of what exactly mooring holders pay for, and does what they pay reflect value for money? Access has recently become difficult and indeed can be dangerous to visiting fin keel yachts such is the limitations on vessel draft.<br/>“I note that many nautical almanacs no longer offer correct advice to visiting vessels due to the diminishing depth available when entering the harbour,” he continued.<br/>On the work currently taking place, Tenby Harbourmaster Chris Salisbury said: “We ask that the public please keep clear of the operating area and that dogs are kept on a lead during this time,” Chris said,.<br/>Cllr Rhys Sinnett, Cabinet Member for Residents’ Services, said: “The timing of the work has been governed by the tide and the dates represented the last opportunity for the work to be carried out before the boats are placed back in the water.”")
