Kia has decided to surprise the world by offering the first look at the upcoming K4 five-door hatchback.<br/><br/>The K4 five-door hatchback was unveiled on a video screen during the K4 sedan presentation at the New York International Auto Show.<br/>It looks like the compact hatchback will go on sale in the US after the sedan launch in the second half of 2024.<br/>Enthusiasts, rejoice! At least if you have a soft spot for compact hatchbacks. Kia believes the future of the automotive industry will include more than crossovers, and it surprised everyone with a first look at the five-door K4 hatchback that will soon join the sedan in the US lineup.<br/><br/>The automaker gave us our first look at the car during its K4 sedan presentation at the New York International Auto Show today. Although we already knew that the compact sedan would be introduced, the company has so far remained silent on plans for a hatchback version that will replace the Forte.<br/><br/>Few more details were offered, but Kia confirmed that the vehicle will be sold in the US and arrive later than the sedan. From the first images, it appears that little needs to change other than the roofline and rear end to transform the sedan into a hatchback.<br/><br/>Although it is not yet clear whether all powertrains will be shared between models, the K4 sedan will be offered with two engine options. The entry-level 2.0-liter engine produces 147 hp (110 kW / 149 PS) and 132 lb-ft (179 Nm) of torque, while the 1.6-liter turbocharged option produces 190 hp (142 kW / 193 PS) and 195 lb-ft (195 Nm). lb-ft).<br/><br/>There may be nothing to say about the engines, but Kia prioritizes comfort and safety for the car. In addition to features such as lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance technology, the vehicle is equipped with acoustic glass on the windshield and noise-reducing tires, taking its overall feel to a higher level.<br/><br/>Additionally, it can be equipped with a huge curved screen that offers wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Maserati MCXtrema, the Trident's uncompromising 730-hp ‘beast’ has returned to be unleashed into its natural environment: the track. The Trident’s exclusive creation is one of the brand’s boldest cars in terms of development and is an evolution of the Maserati MC20 super sports car, its inspiration and basis.<br/><br/>In February, it had its first official outing at the Autodromo Varano de' Melegari (Parma), where MCXtrema was taken to the track by Maserati chief test driver Andrea Bertolini, one of the most successful drivers in the GT class with four world titles aboard the glorious MC12, who has been working on its development in the dynamic simulator since the early stages.<br/><br/>The February shakedown and subsequent milestones to refine its performance have been the ideal setting to unleash the full power of the 730-hp (540-kW) 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine, based on the Maserati Nettuno and taken to the next level.<br/><br/>MCXtrema has benefited from the latest and most advanced equipment in the world that Maserati has access to. Fundamental contributions have been made by the Virtual Analysis team, using the cutting-edge technology in the Maserati dynamic simulator, and by the Powertrain Calibration team, in charge of managing the enormous power delivered by the Nettuno engine. The experience gained during the development of the Maserati MC20, the in-depth characterisation of each component and the stringent bench tests on the engine have guaranteed the greatest accuracy in the simulation, ensuring that an extremely meaningful car would reach the track testing stages with figures similar to the validations in the simulator, required purely for real-world fine tuning.

It's also equipped with Digital Key 2, a fingerprint scanner, Hyundai's in-car payment system, and Bluelink+ connected car technology.<br/><br/>While the interior and exterior were renewed, there was no change under the hood. Santa Cruz still comes with two engine options; 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 191 hp (142 kW / 194 PS) and 181 lb-ft (245 Nm) of torque, and a 2.5-liter turbo producing 281 hp. (210 kW / 285 PS) and 311 lb-ft (422 Nm) of torque. Both are connected to a lightly tuned eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The multi-disc hydraulic torque converter increases responsiveness and the downsized oil pump minimizes friction losses.<br/><br/>The naturally aspirated engine can tow up to 3,500 lbs (1,588 kg), while the 2.5-liter turbo can tow 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg) and comes standard with all-wheel drive.<br/><br/>For 2025, the Santa Cruz will be offered in new colors called Rockwood Green and Canyon Red. Medium Gray seating surfaces will also be available.
