Saundersfoot native Daisy Duke Coleman is on a mission to make a difference - and conquer Everest to raise funds for a good cause.<br/>On May 1, Daisy will be taking part in her first major charity fundraising event and hiking to Everest Base Camp in aid of the Armed Forces Para Snowsports Team (AFPST) - an independent charity, registered in the UK, that uses the restorative and transforming power of para-snowsports to accelerate and support the recovery and welfare of our wounded, injured and sick military personnel and veterans. The charity relies solely on donations and is 100% voluntary led.<br/>After being medically discharged from the Armed Forces, Daisy has gone on to experience multiple successes including being a professional P1 powerboat racer having been crowned multiple times champion alongside her brother Sam who now races in the Electric E1 Boat Racing series, for one of the world’s most successful sports stars, seven-times American Football Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.<br/>Having hung up her race boots and returning to Pembrokeshire to support the family business and pursue her charitable ambitions in the locality, Daisy embodies the unwavering spirit of resilience and determination in taking on such an extraordinary challenge to raise funds for the AFPST by embarking on a courageous journey to Everest Base Camp. <br/>Daisy has just returned from AFPST’s Winter Endeavour in Colorado which saw 14 international athletes join the AFPST cohort for an Invictus Games Foundation camp in advance of the first Invictus Winter Games being held in Vancouver-Whistler, Canada in 2025. <br/>The hallmark Winter Games event will mark a decade of successful Invictus Games whereby over 500 wounded, injured and sick (WIS) veterans and service personnel will experience the power of competitive sports and proudly represent their nation on an international level against 25 nations in total. <br/>Daisy, as an active member of the snowboarding team, turned her feet to Nordic skiing to take advantage of the high terrain and maximise the training opportunity ahead of the Everest trek.<br/>With each arduous event Daisy tackles, she aims to inspire others by pushing the boundaries of what is perceived as possible.
