Description: A landlord was threatened with prison time by his local council - because his shopfronts were painted pink.<br/><br/>Christopher Nevill received a warning that he could be jailed over the colour of his 16th century shopfronts.<br/><br/>The Grade II-listed buildings - home to a nail salon and hairdressers in Canterbury high street - were flagged by Canterbury City Council as part of its crackdown on “garish” buildings.<br/><br/>Mr Nevill secured permission to repaint the properties in the Kent city a lighter shade of pink and got started on the work - before receiving a shocking warning in the post.<br/><br/>He said: “I received the letter on the very same day I was painting the shops with the colour approved by the council.<br/><br/>“They told me if you don’t do the changes you could go to jail or face an unlimited fine.<br/><br/>“They could have just sent me a nice email asking how the progress of the painting was coming along. <br/><br/>\
