The Batur Convertible retains the most powerful version of Bentley’s iconic W12, with a 750 PS, hand-assembled 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine that has metaphorically and literally powered Bentley’s success for the last two decades. With the engine to finish production this summer, the Batur Convertible will be one of the last ever Bentleys to use this incredible powertrain.<br/><br/>Bespoke two-seat grand touring<br/>Bentley has a rich history of open-cockpit cars, from the very first Bentley of 1919, through the company’s foundation years in the 1920s, to the most recent - the Bacalar. The architecture of the Batur Convertible has allowed Mulliner’s designers to seize the opportunity to create a theme that not only blends the design of the Bacalar and Batur but includes the usability of a convertible. The designers also chose to highlight the two-seater character with a ‘wraparound’ cockpit inspired by the design of the Bacalar.<br/><br/>The dramatic ‘airbridge’ behind the seats and tapered cowls at the rear hark back to the barchetta sports cars of old, whilst underlining the promise of a dynamic, driver-focused adventure in a cosseting, cocooned environment. The airbridge and tapered cowls are not only aesthetic, but also provide a semi-enclosed luggage compartment behind the two front seats.<br/><br/>The convertible roof delivers an aesthetic of beauty as a modern, tactile alternative to a hardtop roof. A combination of insulation material, sealing system refinements and acoustic treatments create a cossetting environment in a system which can be deployed or stowed in just 19 seconds, with the car travelling at speeds of up to 30 mph (50 km/h), transforming the car from a luxurious coupe into an open-top Grand Tourer at the touch of a button.<br/><br/>Personal and uniquely commisioned<br/>Mulliner’s in-house design team will help co-create every Batur Convertible with its customer, working together through a specially created Mulliner visualiser that allows any part of the car to be customised in colour and surface finish. Endless samples of unique materials bring texture to the process, and the resulting designs will be truly individual and created by the customer – limited only by their imagination.<br/><br/>Customers will be able to specify the colour and finish of practically every surface of the Batur Convertible, to create a car as individual as they are. While<br/>an impressionable child, his mother, Razia Khan, teaches him a very profound<br/>ethical lesson - that irrespective of caste, class, race, religion, or ethnicity, there<br/>are only two kinds of people - good ones who do good deeds, and bad ones who<br/>do bad deeds.<br/>After immigrating to the United States, Rizvan works as a salesman for his<br/>brother Zakir Khan’s herbal beauty products company. Due to his strong work<br/>ethic, he is able to enjoy the benefits of the American Dream. Despite opposition<br/>from his brother, he marries a Hindu divorcee, Mandira, who has a 6-year old son,<br/>Sameer, and becomes part of her family. They work hard, lead a happy life, and<br/>are well integrated into a multicultural community.<br/>After the tragic events of 9/11 Rizvan’s whole world turns upside down.<br/>Due to prejudice, Mandira's customers abandon her beauty salon and she is forced<br/>to close and seek work elsewhere. 9/11 marks a watershed moment concerning<br/>the rights of Muslims in the US. The ignorance, fear, racism, and hysteria<br/>generated by the media lead to stereotyping, demonization, stigmatization, and<br/>brutal attacks against Muslims. The film depicts the cruel, inhumane, and racist<br/>character of American society, where Muslims are considered less than human<br/>and their rights trampled upon with impunity, based on unsubstantiated and vague<br/>suspicions. Due process and equal protection rights are disregarded due to the<br/>hysteria generated by terrorism. We see events get even uglier when Sameer,<br/>Mandira's son, is killed by four racist bullies at his school. Mandira is beside<br/>herself with grief and blames Rizvan and his Muslim-ness for all their woes. She<br/>asks Rizvan to leave and only return when he is able to tell the President of the<br/>United States that he is not a terrorist. Accordingly, Rizvan leaves San Francisco<br/>in search of the President to deliver his message.<br/>This movie depicts the gross violations of the civil/human rights<br/>experienced by the Muslim community in the US, which arose from prejudice,<br/>collective blame, and hate incited against Muslims. While attempting to meet<br/>President Bush, Rizvan is arrested for suspicion of being a terrorist and is placed<br/>in solitary confinement, in flagrant violation of his constitutional rights. He is<br/>strip/cavity searched and dehumanized by overzealous law enforcement agents<br/>and classified as a dangerous terrorist. In time, due to the advocacy of Rizvan's<br/>friends, the authorities realize they have made a mistake and release him.

On May 15, 1963, NASA astronaut Gordon Cooper launched on the sixth and final crewed flight of the Mercury Program. <br/><br/>This was also the last time a NASA astronaut launched on a solo mission to space. Cooper lifted off from Cape Canaveral on an Atlas rocket booster. He rode inside a capsule called Faith 7, which he piloted for 22 orbits around the Earth. The entire mission lasted 34 hours and 20 minutes and was the longest flight of the Mercury program. Cooper performed 11 experiments in orbit. One of them involved deploying a flashing ball in space and tracking it. Cooper also became the first person to sleep in space. When it came time to head home, Faith 7 started having some problems. It started giving faulty readings, and NASA decided that the auto-pilot system could not longer be trusted. So, Cooper had to pilot it manually. This made him the first astronaut manually fly a space capsule for the entire reentry process. Not only was his landing smooth, but it was also the most accurate landing in the history of the Mercury program. He splashed down just 4 miles away from the recovery ship that was waiting for him in the Pacific Ocean.
