The average family home contains thousands of items we don’t really need, and living amongst the clutter is stressing us all out. But imagine if every single item in your home were laid out before you so you could decide what to keep and what to lose.

In this series, tidying extraordinaire Stacey Solomon has put together a crack team of organising fanatics, who will help one family each week transform their messy home through a life-changing declutter, budget-friendly makeover and supersized spring clean!

Stacey and her gang, organiser Dilly, carpenter Rob and cleaner Iwan, challenge the Bufton family to sort their life out in seven days. To do this, they’ll have to embark on a mammoth declutter. They ask the family to try and let go of half their possessions so that they can then beautifully reorganise their home.

With Stacey’s help, the family start packing all their possessions into boxes. Every single item is stripped from the family home, revealing just how much space there is under all their belongings.

We get to know the family behind the clutter – single dad Craig has been bringing up his young daughters, six-year-old Merywen and four-year-old Wren, after their mum, Lois, passed away from cancer four years ago. Supported by Lois’s close family, dad Craig feels now is the right time to tackle the clutter in their home and make a positive change for his daughters.

Packing up the house is an emotional process, and with the house now empty, all the family’s possessions are taken to a giant warehouse and beautifully displayed like an art installation of their lives. There are thousands of belongings, including 197 teddies and dolls, 121 old socks, 373 pieces of unopened mail and 1,239 books.

Stacey and Dilly are on hand to guide the family through the sort-out. There will be emotional moments as the family go through their most treasured items. Mother-in law Soo and sister-in-law Cass are on hand to help Craig make decisions, and we learn about a beautiful children’s book Lois had written for her daughters. As part of the process, Craig confesses he’s been taking up hobbies and buying random stuff online to fill the void left by the loss of his wife.

At the house, carpenter Rob breathes new life into the home, with some ingenious carpentry for Craig’s home office, and creates a secret door for the girls leading into a magical reading room inspired by Lois’s love of books. Iwan gives the home a supersize spring clean, with lots of useful tips along the way, whilst Dilly reorganises all the storage spaces. When the family are left with only the must-keep and most precious items, they are packed up to bring back to the house before they are all stylishly unpacked by Stacey and her team, ready for the big reveal to the family. Have they really managed to transform this family home by decluttering, organising and upcycling alone?

A mum and dad made the agonising decision to let doctors amputate her son's toes - so he could finally take his first steps.

Brodie Arbon-Davis, one, was born with the PIK3CA mutation - a rare condition which causes blood vessel and lymphatic malformation on the bottom half of his body.

It means his feet were filled with fluid, his blood vessels were malformed and scans showed he only had two functioning toes on each foot.

It left him in agony - and doctors told his mum, Holly-Louise Mackie, 26, that the tot would never walk unaided or wear shoes.

But she took a chance and in November last year, Brodie had surgery to amputate his toes in the hope it would reduce pain, thus allow him to walk.

He tried to walk just hours after the op - and it was a huge success.

Now, despite the odds, Brodie is walking unaided and has started nursery.

Holly-Louise, a full-time mum, from Dover, Kent, said: “Brodie was born this way - and it’s a blessing in disguise.

\

A fussy eater who was hooked on potato WAFFLES for 30 years has finally had a proper meal - thanks to hypnosis.

Ben Gojka, 35, munched through six waffles a day from the age of five, getting through more than 65,000 in his lifetime.

The electrician would skip breakfast and lunch and snack on smarties and fruit pastels before wolfing down a plate of lattice-shaped potato squares for dinner.

He would sometimes add a pork or steak medallion to add flavour but would never miss out on his favourite dish.

Even the thought of eating any fruit or veg would make Ben feel sick and even gag.

Ben became desperate for help when he collapsed and was rushed to hospital last year.

He was diagnosed with ARFID — avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder – after contacting cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist David Kilmurry.

After undergoing several hypnotherapy sessions, Ben has now been able to enjoy fruit, veg and pasta for the first time.

Ben, who lives with partner Kath, 31, in Telford, Shrops., said: “I’d have one meal a day, which would be an evening meal.

“I’d have six of these waffles and a steak and pork medallion. It was just one meal a day.

“I’d get the Aldi ones and I’d probably pick up four packs, so 36 waffles, and that would be five packs a week.

“I wouldn’t eat anything through the day, I’d probably just drink Lucozade at work or Ribena.

“Maybe I’d have a pack of fruit pastels or smarties in the evening before I go to bed.”

Ben says his food-obsession began when he was around four or five years of age.

He added: “I’ve been bad with food ever since I could remember.

“My mum said I used to eat everything and anything and then at one point I just stopped. I was about two, I can’t even remember.

“I would have a cheeseburger then, but that was it.

“I’ve been bad with food ever since I could remember.

“My mum said I used to eat everything and anything and then at one point I just stopped. I was about two, I can’t even remember.

“I would have a cheeseburger then, but that was it.

“It was more a phobia of eating other foods. If someone said try a bit of apple for £1,000 I would say no chance.

“I wouldn’t even consider trying something, I would start to feel physically ill.

“It's not actually a well-known phobia, most people think it’s fussy eating. It’s actually ARFID.”

Avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) is a condition where an individual purposely avoids certain foods.

Ben sought treatment for his condition in November from eating expert David Kilmurry and has gone on to eat a range of foods since.

He now eats bran flakes for breakfast and isn’t afraid of trying new foods, but still sticks to his usual supper.

Ben said: “I didn’t know what to expect from hypnotherapy but David put me under and brought me back up and brought in a plate with food on.

“There were bran flakes, bits of apple and dried sultanas. I actually tried them on the first session. I said ‘how is that even possible?’

“I’ve tried salads, red onions, all different kinds of fruit. Apple, blueberries, apple, strawberries, raspberries.

“All the main healthy foods at such. I tried a brussels sprout, raw.

“I do feel a lot healthier in myself and happier.”

David, who runs clinics in Coventry and in London’s Harley Street, said: “Ben came in with his partner Kath after being hospitalised by his ARFID.

“I was shocked at the fact his safe food was waffles but after hypnosis Ben ploughed through two plates of new foods including spaghetti fresh fruit salads and cereals.

“It was an honour to meet and work with Ben and I wish him the very best health in future as a free eater.

“I hear Ben now loves meals out and spicy sandwiches. I’m very pleased it’s worked out for him.”

Hypnobirthing, gender reveal parties and 'bump' photoshoots are among the fastest-rising pregnancy trends – but wetting the newborn’s head is becoming a thing of the past.

Researchers found elaborate social media pregnancy reveals, baby showers and 'babymoons' have also seen a huge rise in popularity since 2020.

The number of parents taking 'announcement reaction videos' - where they film friends and relatives as they reveal their pregnancy - has risen risen 600 per cent.

But in a sign of more modern times, just one in 10 new fathers still indulge in wetting the baby’s head – a tradition where dads head to the pub to toast the birth.

NHS antenatal classes have also dropped in popularity, although private sessions like the National Childbirth Trust seeing a 128 per cent increase.

A spokesperson for Vitabiotics Pregnacare, which commissioned the research, said: “Some trends come and go in life, and the same seems to be true for pregnancy.

“Social media and celebrity trends mean there are things which are now becoming a staple part of pregnancy that weren’t in the past.

“Whatever the latest trends, the most important thing is to do what’s right for you, never feel pressured by social media and enjoy every moment you can.”

The study [https://www.vitabiotics.com/blogs/talkmum/research-on-pregnancy-trends] involved research among 2,000 parents.

While the number of mums turning to hypnobirthing has risen by 500 per cent, from just two per cent to those who had their baby pre-2020 to 12 per cent who had their baby more recently.

Parties to reveal either the baby’s gender or name have also risen by 500 per cent, while announcing the pregnancy with an elaborate social media post has gone from just three per cent to 15 per cent of parents – an increase of 400 per cent.

Other trends to see a rise in popularity since the turn of the decade include bump painting (up 300 per cent), 4D scans (up 225 per cent) and setting up a social media account for the baby (up 300 per cent).

It also emerged that while 52 per cent of parents-to-be took part in such things to help them feel prepared for the birth, 34 per cent wanted to ensure they made plenty of memories.

While 16 per cent wanted to make the pregnancy as fun as possible.

But 76 per cent of those polled, via OnePoll, acknowledged some trends are now a little on the extreme side, as things like gender reveal parties and pregnancy announcements become more extravagant.

And the same percentage feel traditional pregnancy activities have changed since they had their first child, with 16 per cent now influenced by celebrities or social media.

A spokesperson for Vitabiotics Pregnacare added: “A lot has changed around pregnancy in recent years – but the importance of good nutrition is one thing that remains a constant.

“It’s also interesting to see the percentage of women taking pregnancy supplements has increased in line with many of the other trends.”

Today's trolley dashers are Lorraine Hewitson & Sue Calvert from County Durham, Sam Alexander & Carl Bradman from London & West Sussex, and Andrea Stevens & Gina Nissan from Kent. Dale Winton hosts and hears of one woman's cheeky prank on her mum, another contestant's dubious nickname, and one girl who can get round anyone with her Sad Sam expression - until she tries it with Dale. One team is certainly feeling sad with their points total going into the Super Sweep, but with shopping totals surprisingly low come the price count, it's anyone's game on who will go into the final to have the chance to win £2,000!

(This is another upload of Episode 40 that I've done after managing to get my DVD/video combi to get the colour code right on the picture. Hopefully this is a much better copy for you to enjoy).
