_92.jpg "A new mum was slammed for taking her newborn and husband on a hen do in Spain – after she couldn’t face leaving the tot at home.<br/><br/>Elizabeth Kenina, 30, originally planned to go on the hen do solo but when it came to booking the tickets she struggled with the idea of having to leave her little girl, Michelle, eight months.<br/><br/>The bride, Laura, 32, was happy to accommodate the tot along with Elizabeth's husband, Alex, 33, a software engineer.<br/><br/>The trio jetted out one day early to Mallorca, Spain, in August 2023, and Alex stayed with Michelle while Elizabeth went out with the girls.<br/><br/>Elizabeth was able to enjoy all the activities - such as wine tasting, dinners and beach clubs - as well as popping back to see and breastfeed Michelle.<br/><br/>Despite strangers shaming her for the choice, Elizabeth says she “wouldn’t do it differently”.<br/><br/>Elizabeth, a senior marketing manager, from Manchester, said: “I didn’t feel I could leave her.<br/><br/>“I was breastfeeding.<br/><br/>“It wasn’t the case of baby crashing.<br/><br/>“My husband stayed with the baby. I got to enjoy times with the girls.<br/><br/>“I wouldn’t do it differently.<br/><br/>“I wanted to enjoy it as a mum.”<br/><br/>Elizabeth was three months pregnant when the hen do was planned and had thought she’d be able to go on her own.<br/><br/>She said: “When the baby came and it was time to book I wanted my husband and baby with me.<br/><br/>“For me to go for a long time I’d have to stop breastfeeding.<br/><br/>“I didn’t want to do that.<br/><br/>“I told my friend this is the situation and asked ‘do you mind?’<br/><br/>“She was really nice. She really wanted me to be there.”<br/><br/>Elizabeth said having Michelle and Alex there didn’t get in the way of the plans or her enjoyment.<br/><br/>She got to enjoy vineyards, sightseeing and rooftop bars. Baby Michelle even joined the hen party on the final dinner – as requested by the bride.<br/><br/>Elizabeth said: “There wasn’t a moment that I felt alone.<br/><br/>“The bride asked me if my husband and Michelle could join for dinner.<br/><br/>“Everyone was excited to have them.<br/><br/>“There wasn’t any trouble.”<br/><br/>Elizabeth shared a video online and was slammed for her choice.<br/><br/>One commented: “Sounds like hell.<br/><br/>Another said: “No you either say look I’m not ready or you go and let your hair down.”<br/><br/>But many also jumped to Elizabeth’s support agreeing they wouldn’t be able to leave their baby either.<br/><br/>Elizabeth said: “It’s ruffled some feathers.<br/><br/>“It‘s upsetting it’s women putting other women down for no reason.<br/><br/>\")

_pembrokeshire-sand-artist39s-latest-creation-on-tenby39s-north-beach.jpg "A Pembrokeshire sand artist took to Tenby’s North Beach this month to highlight her creations for ITV Wales’ Coast and Country.<br/><br/>Rachel Shiamh (partner of the late inspirational sand artist Marc Treanor) returned to Tenby to create a wonderful whale in tribute to the humpback that glided into local shores recently at Fishguard & Goodwick Bay, and also to highlight campaigns and bring awareness to culling that still occurs in parts of the UK.<br/>She met with one of the show’s hosts Sean Fletcher on the beach to discuss her work.<br/><br/>Marc Treanor who lived in Dinas Cross, sadly passed away back in the summer of 2020, when he tragically drowned on a trip to Cornwall, but his memorable work, which often carried a message, and raised awareness of certain issues, will live long in the memory of anyone who witnessed, either in person, or via social media, where his coastal creations would often go viral, gaining thousands of likes and shares.<br/><br/>Rachel is making sure Marc’s legacy lives on, by continuing to create masterpieces across the county’s beaches, vowing to continue creating such eye-catching sand sketches, and with it his environmental message.<br/><br/>“A day of grace - as the sun shone down upon this homage to the Whale and in particular to the humpback who glided into our local shores recently,” said Rachel, who resides in St Dogmaels, in an eco-house, after ‘letting go’ of a dance career many years ago, so she could connect more fully with nature.<br/>“Such a great crew, canvas and climate.”<br/><br/>She told the Observer last year: “I learnt so much from Marc and he encouraged my own creativity. _unseen-video-of-the-time-wally-the-walrus-made-his-home-in-tenby.jpg "It was strange times indeed across the country, and on the day lockdown travel restrictions eased, bringing back some semblance of normalcy after the pandemic...all of a sudden, an Arctic visitor affectionately named ‘Wally the walrus’ appeared, soaking up the sun on Tenby’s lifeboat station slipway! <br/><br/>It was Saturday, March 27, 2021 and with Wales-wide travel allowed in time for the holidays, and people able to travel to beauty spots on the first day of the Covid restrictions easing in Wales, a walrus that was first spotted off Kerry in Ireland on March 14, days later making his way over to Pembrokeshire where he was spotted at Broad Haven beach, continued its jaunt around the Welsh coast, rocking up in the seaside town of Tenby, to the amazement of locals and visitors alike.<br/><br/>It is believed he may have fallen asleep on an iceberg off Greenland which drifted to Valentia Island, before finding his way to Irish seas.<br/>People wandering around the harbour and Castle Hill area were incredulous as to what they were seeing, with the large creature basking in the sun on a Saturday morning, before splashing in the sea. <br/><br/>Luckily the walrus was protected by the fact that he stayed on and close to the RNLI station’s slipway, so was protected from anyone getting too close, with RSPCA Cymru and Dyfed-Powys Police issuing warnings to tourists and members of the local community to be respectful and give sufficient space to Wally, who went onto make Tenby his home for the next seven weeks.<br/><br/>The Tenby Observer was the first news outlet to publish a photograph of Wally, taken respectfully using a long lens by local photographer Gareth Davies.<br/><br/>'Wally-mania' swept the seaside town, before eventually heading to Cornwall; and by late May Wally continued to track south to France, before eventually returning to the UK, arriving in the Isles of Scilly on June 17, where he caused a bit of mischief for boat owners, in trying to rest up on their vessels, before a special floating purpose-built pontoon was created for him to relax on with his scent to attract him away from boats and other areas.<br/><br/>The Arctic visitor which captured the hearts and imagination of wildlife lovers locally and around the world with his mammoth travels then went onto be spotted enjoying the last of the summer sunshine soaking up the rays on floating pontoon in the south west corner of Ireland at the end of August; and by September 19 the majestic animal attracted a lot of attention from the townspeople of Höfn in Iceland, on what many hoped was a stop-off on his way home.<br/><br/>Video: ©Tenby Observer<br/>Pics: ©Gareth Davies Photography")

Over 600 extras and 150 horses were used during the filming on the sands.")

The work will not affect vessel movements at the Harbour.<br/>Tenby Harbourmaster Chris Salisbury said a licence for the dredging had been issued after several months of application work.<br/>“We ask that the public please keep clear of the operating area and that dogs are kept on a lead during this time,” he said.<br/>Cllr Rhys Sinnett, Cabinet Member for Residents’ Services, said: “I’m grateful to our officers for securing the licence for this work to go ahead. This dredging is essential for the operation of Tenby Harbour.<br/>“The timing of the work has been governed by the tide and the dates represented the last opportunity for the work to be carried out before the boats are placed back in the water.”")
