_shocking-moment-staff-member-punches-a-teenage-linesman-to-the-floor-in-a-sudden-mid-game-attack.jpg "Shocking footage has emerged capturing the moment that a young linesman was punched in the face by a staff member from a rival football team in North Wales. <br/><br/>The North Wales Coast Football Association match at Amlwch Town saw Clwb Pêl-Droed Penrhyndeudraeth put eight past the hosts in a hugely one-sided affair, however things turned sour soon after the whistle first blew. <br/><br/>With one of the visiting players serving voluntarily as the linesman for the league clash, a figure from the Amlwch staff appeared to strike the player after just 15 minutes of action. <br/><br/>Video footage shows the stunning moment, with two crossing paths on the touchline. <br/><br/>It is not clear whether anything is said between the two, before the Amlwch figure steps up and aims a blow at the linesman's chin, sending him to the ground. <br/><br/>Seemingly stunned for a few seconds, the linesman gets back to his feet as the staff member returns to their bench before Penrhyn boss Riccardo Pellegrino comes over and helps his player up to his feet. <br/><br/>The rest of the Penrhyn squad then come running over to the scene, but Pellegrino prevents any conflict by ushering them away, though the team remains nearby. <br/><br/>One of Pellegrino's assistants appears to talk to the figure that aimed the punch in a bid to calm him down, while other players from the home bench then walk over. <br/><br/>The shocking attack has been reported to North Wales Police, as reported by both the NWCFA and Penrhyn. <br/><br/>The club's statement read: 'A fantastic result and performance from the lads today.<br/><br/>'Unfortunately, the game was marred by an incident which occurred approximately 15 minutes into the game when a Penrhyn player, acting as a voluntary linesman, was assaulted. <br/><br/>'The Club will not be making any further comments but will support the player as the matter has been reported to the police.'<br/><br/>The NWCFA added: 'The North Wales Coast Football Association (NWCFA) is aware of a video circulating on social media about an incident at Amlwch Town FC. _var-is-slammed-again-after-ruling-out-bournemouth39s-goal-against-arsenal-in-a-39baffling39-decision.webp "VAR controversy struck again after two interventions infuriated Arsenal and Bournemouth during the Gunners' 3-0 victory - leading to calls for the technology to be axed.<br/><br/>Both sides found themselves on the wrong end of divisive decisions from the officials during a dramatic showdown at the Emirates, with Ryan Christie escaping a red card for a high tackle and the Cherries seeing a goal ruled out in the second half.<br/><br/>Strikes from Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard put Arsenal on course to move four points clear at the top of the Premier League. Still, the visitors hit back through Antoine Semenyo, the forward bundling in after Christie's strike hit the woodwork.<br/><br/>However, the effort was chalked off after Dominic Solanke was adjudged to have fouled goalkeeper David Raya after backing into him in the build-up.<br/><br/>As the loose ball dropped inside the penalty area, Solanke moved into Raya's path and looked to pressure him while the stopper tried to weakly punch away. VAR did not intervene, though, thrusting the video team into the spotlight once again.<br/><br/>Piers Morgan has now led calls for the technology to be dropped altogether.<br/><br/>'VAR is so bad that even when Arsenal gets a verdict our way (like just now), I still hate the bloody thing for the way it sucks all the joy out of the game,' he posted on X.<br/><br/>'Just get rid of it.'<br/><br/>Arsenal legend Ian Wright also admitted VAR should not have ruled out the goal.<br/><br/>'Didn't think it was a penalty,' he said.
