The first Toyota C-HR was a milestone for both the Toyota brand and the European C-SUV segment. The next generation of the successful model is now being launched. It takes the outstanding quality of its predecessor to a higher level: with avant-garde design, advanced technologies and extensively improved electrified drives that offer higher performance, livelier driving dynamics and an extended electric range. The new model was developed in Europe with European customers in mind and will be built exclusively in Europe, including the assembly of the high-voltage batteries.

The first Toyota C-HR was a radical innovation in a highly competitive segment, breaking away from the traditional SUV look with its sharp-edged design that resembles the look of modern sports coupes. With great success: For more than half of the customers, the design of the vehicle was the main reason for the purchase. The C-HR became Toyota's most successful conquest model and helped give the brand a strong emotional dimension, thereby changing public perception of Toyota in Europe.

The new generation retains this design, which is reminiscent of a concept car, and combines it with a seamless digital user experience, electrified drives and agile driving characteristics. As such, the new Toyota C-HR has all the qualities to maintain its position as an iconic model, attract new customers and strengthen the Toyota brand in Europe.

Grateful for the listeners' support, we open up a deep conversation about superheroes and how their unrealistic invulnerability in movies can skew perceptions of war. We delve into the harsh realities of warfare, dispelling the glorified image often depicted in films where inexperienced individuals triumph effortlessly over battle-hardened foes. The discussion extends to the role of luck in war and the misconception of guaranteed success through mere determination and righteousness.

Drawing parallels between gaming skills and cinematic portrayals of invincibility, we reflect on the disparity between fantasy and reality in warfare, sharing personal anecdotes and highlighting the haunting consequences of conflict. Emphasizing the unpredictability of combat and the dangers of glamorizing invincibility, we unravel the misconceptions perpetuated by propaganda and cinematic narratives. Through poignant reflections on historical figures and personal experiences, we shed light on the inherent risks and uncertainties in warfare, challenging conventional notions of heroism and underscoring the grim realities of conflict.

Our conversation navigates through themes of war propaganda, dysfunctional families, and societal challenges, touching on topics such as battlefield casualties, historical events, and the perpetuation of dysfunction across generations. We delve into the struggles of bringing reason and virtue to dysfunctional environments, as well as the difficulties in addressing personal biases and flaws. Reflecting on personal battles with hatred and delusions, we caution against fruitless debates that may diminish respect for rational discourse.

As we confront the concept of engaging with trolls and individuals resistant to reason, personal anecdotes emphasize the futility of debating those unwilling to change their minds. The discussion challenges the audience to acknowledge anti-rationality in others and navigate debates with caution, considering the limitations of engaging with those who reject evidence and reason. The episode wraps up with reflections on rational ethics, philosoph

Almost three in five Americans are taking their sustainability efforts more seriously today than they were five years ago, according to new research.

A survey of 2,000 U.S. adults found that 41% admit that using disposable products makes them feel guilty about harming the environment.

Yet, 23% admit to “always” or “often” throwing away their reusable items such as bags, food containers and water bottles.

Over the last year, respondents purchased 14 boxes of plastic bags, 11 plastic cups, nine single-use silverware packs, 17 paper towel packages and 15 paper plates — totaling 65 disposable purchases.

But even so, many say they reuse plastic bags (57%), plastic water bottles (44%), takeout containers (44%) and even their single-use utensils (30%).

Conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Stasher, the survey also revealed that Americans are investing in sustainable products, though their efforts may be counterintuitive.

The average American has 51 reusable items in their home but admit that they use less than half (45%) on a regular basis.

These items include three water bottles and thermoses, three plastic or metal straws and five plastic bag alternatives. And that’s not even counting their food storage containers (6), reusable shopping bags (5) and other miscellaneous items (5).

The average American has bought $54 of new reusable equipment in the past year, though 21% say that figure is over $90.

But do they buy these items to be more eco-friendly? For 45%, it’s because they wanted a variety of sizes, followed by needing an alternative in case they can’t use their favorite item (26%).

Others seem to be jumping on the bandwagon, as 19% are opting for a variety of colors whereas 9% say it’s because the item is considered trendy.

This may be because while many still see the term “sustainable” as saving the planet (40%), others see it as a marketing technique (11%), another trend (8%) or even a status symbol (7%).

“It’s refreshing to see that more than half of those surveyed (59%) are taking their sustainability efforts more seriously than five years ago,” said Hilary McGuigan, Vice
President of Marketing at Stasher. “It’s an encouraging sign that people feel empowered to make changes in their own lives and have the agency to reduce their reliance on plastic waste and other single-use items. However, results found that there’s work to be done for their friends, family and businesses, as just 14% believe they’re taking their efforts ‘much more seriously’.”

Interestingly, the survey also revealed that 73% of respondents believe that corporations have a duty to protect the environment.

Almost one in five (16%) admit they’ve gone so far as to “cancel” a brand for their non-eco-friendly practices.

In fact, 12% of respondents believe that the sustainability factor is the most important part when it comes to making a purchase.

One in five (21%) are willing to pay a higher price for something that’s sustainable, as well as waiting for longer shipping times (23%).

Almost half (48%) say they’re already experiencing the effects of climate change firsthand, and of the 20% who aren’t a quarter of those respondents are concerned that they will in their lifetime.

This may be why almost two-thirds (61%) of respondents agree that every month should be Earth Month.

“Nearly half (49%) of survey respondents remain unswayed to make a sustainable purchase based on a company’s Earth Month sales,” said Clayton Wiley, Vice President of Sales at Stasher. “Which is all the more reason as to why we should collectively celebrate the Earth every day and make choices that are better for the planet beyond April.”

Survey methodology:
This random double-opt-in survey of 2,000 general population Americans was commissioned by Stasher between Feb. 13 and Feb. 18, 2024. It was conducted by market research company OnePoll, whose team members are members of the Market Research Society and have corporate membership to the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) and the European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research (ESOMAR).

Liverpool beat Sheffield United 3-1 at Anfield on Thursday as Jurgen Klopp’s men navigated a tricky 90 minutes to go back to the top of the Premier League table.

WATCH FULL REPLAY

Darwin Nunez gave Liverpool the lead after forcing a goalkeeping error but Sheffield United were plucky and made it 1-1 after Conor Bradley’s own goal.

But just when nerves looked to be getting the better of Liverpool, Alexis Mac Allister stepped up in the big moment to smash home a stunner, then Cody Gakpo added some extra gloss to the scoreline.

The win moves Liverpool on to 70 points, two clear of second-place Arsenal and three clear of third-place Manchester City as all three teams have eight games to play. 20th-place Sheffield United remain on 15 points and are 10 points from safety with eight games to go.
Midfield newbies driving title push
It took a while for Alexis Mac Allister to settle in at Liverpool. Dominik Szoboszlai has flitted in and out form this season. But both after arriving in the summer both are now a big reason why Liverpool are top of the league with eight games to go. Mac Allister’s stunning strike to make it 2-1 underlined his importance in recent weeks as he now has 10 goal involvements in his last 11 games in all competitions for Liverpool and the Argentine wizard is looking more and more comfortable wearing the No. 10 shirt. It’s probably because he’s now playing in a more advanced role, which is his natural position and he can impact the game. Liverpool bossed
