It might look like something from a movie, but your eyes don't deceive you – Godzilla and Kong are lurking in London.

Godzilla’s bristling pink spikes, brimming with atomic power, were seen poking up from the river Thames next to Kong's giant hand, crushing an iconic London red phone box on Southbank.

The giant titan’s spine stretches an impressive 65 feet, the length of a tennis court.

Kong's hand is a mammoth 16 feet tall, with a head seven metres in diameter – 45 times that of a human.

A team of 40 worked around the clock to create the two sculptures, spending a colossal 6,326 hours over two months.

And it took 51 days just to paint the two giant beasts, which collectively weigh more than a tonne.

The city-smashing installation was created to launch Warner Bros. Pictures’ new movie “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire”, released on Friday 29th March.

The sculptures were fabricated from 3D references from the filmmakers, built in a combination of poly, fibreglass and steel framework, as well as interactive lighting.

Godzilla contains over 70 individual pulsing pink lights to achieve the atomic effect, a spectacular addition in the new film, which sees him team up with Kong as a greater threat to earth materialises.

Kong is covered in over 30 metres of fur, to create a hyper-realistic finish.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire filmmaker Adam Wingard said: “A lot of the magic of the Monsterverse comes from watching these Titans battling it out in real world surroundings.

“To see Godzilla and Kong actually accessing Hollow Earth portals into London just really blew me away! I felt like I did as a kid, watching the Toho classics on a Saturday afternoon.”

The giant beasts will be available to see beneath London’s OXO Tower – temporarily rebranded the GXK Tower, for today only (Monday), ahead of the film’s release in cinemas across the UK and Ireland from Friday 29th March.

European scientists are turning an aircraft into a laboratory that simulates lunar gravity to prepare astronauts and technology for future moon landings as part of the NASA-led Artemis missions.

The moon is a strange little world. Only about 1.2% the mass of Earth, our planet's companion exerts a much weaker gravitational force on objects on its surface than the parent planet. As a result, an astronaut on the moon's surface feels as if he or she only weighs one sixth of their earthly weight. The same goes for all equipment the astronauts would use. It may sound like no big deal but this feeble gravitational pull creates all sorts of unforeseen problems that are difficult to prepare for in research labs on Earth. There is, however, one way to experience lunar gravity while still in the confines of Earth and explore these challenges before going to the moon: in a parabolic flight.

Credit: Space.com | footage courtesy: European Space Agency/Novespace/NASA
A Future Studios Production

On March 22, 1997, a super bright comet by the name of Hale-Bopp made its closest approach to Earth.

It was bright enough for people to see without telescopes or binoculars for over 18 months. Comet Hale-Bopp still holds the record for being visible to the naked eye for longer than any other comet, and it was probably the most-viewed comet in history. It passed by Earth at a safe distance of about 120 million miles before continuing its orbit around the sun. As it got closer to the sun, its two blue and white tails grew bigger and brighter. By the time it made it to the sun on April 1, it was shining brighter than every star in the sky except for Sirius.

The scars of humanity can be seen across the Earth. However, observing such ecological violence often requires the right perspective. At every scale, humans make their mark, expressions of the rapid expansion of creative and destructive collective consciousness. This process is aided by technology, from the history of written language that enabled larger settlements and the agricultural revolution to contemporary computer technologies that create an alternative hyperspace within the Earth. On March 20, 1987, NASA launched an Indonesian communications satellite called Palapa B2-P.

It would later become the first satellite owned by the Philippines. Almost 10 years after the satellite launched into orbit,Pasifik Satelit Nusantara — the Indonesian company that owned it — sold it to the Mabuhay Satellite Corporation in the Philippines. The country had been trying to establish its own satellite network for decades. They finally bought the Palapa satellite when President Fidel Ramos said he wanted one in time for an international forum that the country was hosting later that year. The president got his way, and the country's first satellite was moved into its new orbit with three months to spare. Mabuhay changed the satellite's name from Palapa to Agila, which means \
