The Regiment was given the nickname of the Oxford Blues as a result of their first Colonel, the Earl of Oxford and also because of their blue uniforms.<br/><br/>During those early years the band featured kettle drummers with trumpeters and they wore heavily embroidered and gold laced frockcoats which look very similar to the present day state dress. This includes a black velvet jockey cap which was introduced during Queen Victoria's reign.<br/>A pair of solid silver kettle drums which were presented in 1805 by King George 3rd are still in use today and are carried by the Drum Horse while being played by their mounted drummer on the Queen's Birthday Parade and on Horse Guards parade.<br/><br/>The band requires all members to undertake an intensive five month long Household Cavarly Equestrian Course.")

The video was one of the last I filmed and recorded using a Hi8 camcorder I was gifted by a member of the Edinburgh Cine and Video Society who I had been a member of for many years while living in Edinburgh.<br/><br/>His Majesty The King's Guards Band and Drill Team is the finest display unit in the Norwegian Armed Forces. The band's main task is to protect and serve the Royal Norwegian Family, to perform guard and parade duties, to train soldiers for the Norwegia Army and to assist the general public when called upon.<br/><br/>The band members would assist with providing support in the event of a catastrophes, help combat forest fires and with mounting search and rescue operations.<br/><br/>The guardsmen featured within this video on parade were all undergoing compulsory military service for twelve months, and average between nineteen and twenty years old. The company was called up in 2007 and began musical and infantry training throughout the winter months.<br/><br/>The one hundred and thirty five strong Kings Guards have represented the Norwegian Military Forces overseas on several occasions. Highlights include performances at La Place Des Invalides in Paris, the Grand Place in Brussels, the Olympic Games at Lillehammer in 1994 and have appeared at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo on several occasions.")

Their uniforms on parade are authenticate dress reproductions of the New England regiments of the Continental Army from 1779.")
